The Forbidden Leaf

I walked towards this leaf-like plant. At once, I knew I had never seen this kind of plant before. I reached out my hand to touch it. The very second my fingers grazed its surface, something felt wrong, as if I was ill or had a pounding headache. But it was so soft that I wanted to touch it again. That moment the world started to spin around me, my legs went numb and my eyes started to close. The next thing I knew, the ground around me looked like it was dropping into an endless abyss. ‘What is this plant?’ were the last words that came to my head as I slipped into a dreamlike state.

  1. Hi Isaac
What an intriguing piece you have written for the 100 word challenge. You’ve used the prompt very creatively and differently. ‘But it was so soft’ brings to mind a cuddly teddy bear or a piece of material but you have used it in a very different way introducing something that turns out to be very dangerous. You’ve used excellent descriptions to explain all that was happening when you touched the leaf and then you left it on a cliffhanger where your reader is left wondering what happened next. Well done. Great writing.
